My painful sexual experience

I recently got married as a virgin. My first sexual experience with my husband was so painful that we had to abandon the act. Since then about two weeks ago, I have been dreading having sex with my husband out of a repeat of the painful experience. Kindly advise me on what to do. I am 18 years old.
